ipod rewind 2025
as of today's sync there are 453 songs on my ipod. im sure i dont have to extoll the virtue of listening to an ipod to anyone reading this, but it did bring me a lot of pleasure to have this in my pocket, tangled up in frayed headphones and not draining my phone battery to listen to songs i like. i really feel like i built a relationship with some of these songs in a way that typically only happens for me with physical media. i tend to listen to my whole library shuffled, so there is an element of randomness to the tracks that get the most play. nevertheless these are the songs itunes says i listened to the most this year, and many of them are songs i loved or discovered and then loved in 2025.
Lakou-a, Jephté Guillaume, 26 plays
damn this song is good. i found this when i had covid but i've listened to it in a lot of other health and mental states since.
Cassava Piece, Augustus Pablo, 23 plays
a big change in my listening habits this year was listening to a lot of concert recordings. conversely, i'm going to far fewer shows. both of these things are signs im getting older. i love cassava and i love this song!
Vogue, 1oneam, 23 plays
this was a song i do know i sought out specifically a lot since it landed on my ipod. i listened to this five times in a row on the train in august. good replay value here.
Eu Quero Ver A Rainha, Jorge Ben, Tim Maia, 22 plays
acho que era uma das primeiras canções que eu coloquei na ipod. fica na cabeça muito essa. rainhaaaaa!
In Your House, The Cure, 21 plays
got back into the cure in a major way when i had covid this year. i was really into the cure when i was in high school, i think my mom had a cd that i burned onto an ipod back then too. would have been a 3rd or 4th gen nano. i got this one (7th gen) when I was heading into college.
La mariposa, Inti Illimani, 21 plays
the thing about shuffling your whole ipod library is that occasionally you get really jarring transitions, like a 1oneam song b2b with andean folk music. the fact is that this song is amazing and goes with almost any other piece of music.
I Wish You A World Of Happines, The KBCs, 21 plays
feel good song of the year.
More Paper, Pa Salieu, 21 plays
it does kind of mess up the shuffle ratio when you have a whole album in the library so i had to be choosy with pa salieu who is probably my most played artist since this album came out in 2020. this is a good one. they're all really good.
Cry Me a River, Yukio Eto, 21 plays
this one had me levitating a few times this year.
Emerald River Dance, June McDoom, 20 plays
i wish june mcdoom's radio show would come back. i loved her cover of this judee sill song. it seems like everyone is so afraid of emootion... crayon angels by judee sill also almost cracked this list, but not quite.
Rayando el Sol, Maná, 20 plays
una favoritas de mi mamá. siempre oigo esta canción desde el asiento de atrás de su coche. recuerdo a un chiste entre yo y mi hermana decir el "miami" al final de la canción como pitbull.
